Tonight for our Monday Online Class at Crafters Anonymous Jane McGlade Smith showed us how to make a milk carton. Mind you we didn't know that was what we were making when we started as we don't get the tutorial until after the class. Jane tells us what supplies we need and then gives us instructions and uploads photos of the different steps. Its great fun. Here's my sample - don't you just love my stand! lol
If you would like to be apart of these classes at Crafters Anonymous, send me an email to motfarm@xtra.co.nz and we will send you an invite.

Lost Mojo
My goal for the month of February was to blog every day. I wasn't doing too bad until Tuesday - then the devastating earthquake hit Christchurch.
As the days go by I am hearing that some of my friends and rellies have been extremely lucky. My niece was near the Cathedral when it collapsed and saw things that you shouldn't see and is now unable to sleep as she is getting flashbacks. At least she is back up here with her family. My friend was to be at an appointment in the Press building at 1 on Tuesday but her hubby asked her to change it till Wednesday and then he could go with her - lucky. She also had been in a lift at the Grand Chancellor Hotel that same day - very lucky.
So I wont be blogging for a few days until things settle and hopefully my mojo will come back.
To everyone in the Canterbury region please know that I am thinking of you and I wish you well.

My First Class
Tonight was a big night for me - I taught a class at Crafters Anonymous. Scary stuff. First off I had to decide what I would showcase and then I had to make it - complete with photos and instructions.
I am so pleased that some ladies turned up for it - I was worried that no one would turn up!!! What a great bunch of ladies, they made me relax and I enjoyed it. Here's my project.
I made this one before Christmas for the 12 Days of Christmas Swap.
Crikey - what did I do wrong with my editing - sorry about the underlining of the words at the start of this post. Don't know how to get rid of it!!

Mini Challenge - Brayering
Its fair to say that I am not good at brayering and also fair to say that it's not one of my fav techniques! Why would I want to brayer when there are so many talented brayer artists out there eg Paula Dobson and Michelle Zindorf. Anne at Crafters Anonymous set us a challenge to use our brayer - Yikes! After watching the video link that Anne gave us I realised where I had been going wrong with brayering - lol. This is my second attempt - the first is in the bin! I have CASED this card from Jayne Mercer as I wanted to use the Just Riding stamp set. Its perfect for a 5 year old birthday that Reuben has to go to today.
I'm quite pleased with the result but I still don't think it will be a well used technique!

Reuben's First Day
Here's Reuben on his first full day at school. His bag looks too big for him and he informed me and his dad that "it was very heavy". He has had a good three days at school but is very tired today. And he tells me he doesn't want to go tomorrow.... Oh dear. I am sure in the morning he will be fine.

Monday Night Class
I didn't get to attend last night's class at Crafters Anonymous as I had all the family out for a bbq for Reuben's Birthday. I got the tutorial today and have just made it. What a neat little gift bag - so many uses.

Sad Day today
Well, it was a great day for my grandson, Reuben, he turned 5 today. But it was also his last day at Daycare. Yes, he's a Valentines baby - no excuse for him to forget! Even though it was his Birthday today he went to his Daycare that he has been going to since his was just over two.
I made a little chocolate cake and loaded it up with lollies (as you do) and we took our bouncy castle for the kids to play on. The kids were so excited. Reuben got to be the big boy and take the littlies on the bounce and then it was the bigger kids turn. He got to sit on the Birthday chair and wear the birthday hat while they sung Happy Birthday to him.
When I went back this afternoon to pick him up it was sad but in a funny way. Both Reuben and I got hugs from the teachers. It will be weird not having to turn into Talbot Street as I have been doing that for just under three years for four days a week! Now we are into another phase of his live - school.
I have just realised that the card I made him - I forgot to take a piccy of it!!
Hopefully tomorrow I will have something crafty to post.

Sunday Challenge
The challenge this fortnight at Crafters Anonymous is to recreate one of your childhood memories in any medium. One of my best memories is reading Enid Blyton books. The Magic Faraway Tree was one of my all time favourites. I would immerse myself in the fantasies and wonderment of her words. I used to wish I could go there and see all of the characters.
The tree's leaves would whisper "wisha, wisha". The children could not see what was in the tree until they climbed it - how exciting would that be....

Why do boys do this....?
Every time I take a photo of my grandson Reuben, he pulls a face or does something silly and then I have to take another photo!! It would be so much quicker if they just let us take the photo.
It was his second to last day at Daycare today and they went on a trip to the Aquarium at Mapua. The kids loved it. I love watching the seahorses - they are so graceful.
I hope you are having a crafty day.

Mum and baby
I've done some crafting today. Last night at Crafters Anonymous, the lovely Anne Brignall did a Punch Art class. As she and her hubby have moved back to Australia we made a Koala and baby. I wasn't able to attend as I hadn't got my computer up and running so I made it today. Aren't they cute.
I have already put them into my Punch Art Journal - this is another project that we have done at CA.

I'M NOT DOING TOO WELL...
on my personal challenge of blogging every day in February. My computer contracted a nasty virus and I had to take it to my computer doctor Fred on Sunday. What a man - his family were going to the beach, as it was stinkin hot, but he stayed at home to sort out my computer. Obviously its up and running so hopefully I will have something crafty for tomorrow.

A little note
Well - a little notepad. I made this to use up some of my retired dsp's. (Not that it used much.) Now my grand daughter has got her eye on it. She loves notepads.
I don't know what went wrong here with my photo as when its in Picasa its up the right way....
Pheww, its been hot here today and I have been working in a canteen cooking hot dogs and chips. Funny, nobody wanted to trade places with me lol.
Its time for me to go and have a much needed shower. Hopefully I will get a chance to craft tomorrow.

D is for .....
DEE -that's me. lol
I'm just scrapping in for today's post. I made this a wee while ago - it had a blingy crown where the purple flower is but I needed it for another project! Isn't that the way with crafting.
BTW: My sister and her family who live in Townsville survived Cyclone Yasi. The kids slept all night and my sister stayed awake!!! Lee said the noise of the wind was horrendous. My heart goes out to everyone who has been through this awful ordeal.

Sending LOVE..
to my sister and her two children in Townsville today. They are hunkering down for a possible bad cyclone that is due to hit tonight/tomorrow. And to add to their worries her husband is working in Egypt - was due to come home this weekend. So fingers crossed everything will be all ok for them.
Hopefully I will have a crafting goody to show you tomorrow - its been a long weekend in Nelson and the grandys came home so I haven't been crafting. I'm also set myself a goal of posting everyday in February - we will see what happens - watch this space.
Have a crafty day - thanks for visiting.
