It's a Celebration

Yahoo - there's a party going on right here......
I have been trying all week to come up with an idea for a 1980's Fav Song Challenge that we have going on at Crafters Anonymous. This is my third attempt - its funny how you have all these wonderful ideas in your head but trying to put them into real life doesn't quite work.
The 1980's were a busy time for me. Me and my hubby got married in December 1980, we had our first son in 1982, started our business in 1983 and had our second son in 1985. I can remember Kool & The Gang being a great dance song when we went to the pub (bc) after rugby - even to this day whenever I hear it I start dancing!!!

I'm excited today as my grandchildren come home after being with their mum since New Years Eve. Its going to be full on I bet! No doubt they will be organising me as they walk in the door! But I wouldn't have it any other way.

Happy crafting and thanks for looking.

A Sewing Project

Yesterday I decided to use my SU Scallop Square die and make my granddaughter a rag bag. These types of bags have been around for ages and I have been dying to make one but as I am not a quilter I knew I wouldn't be able to cut a perfect square so when the die came to NZ I bought it. The Big Shot and die cut through eight layers of fabric so it made the job of cutting quick and easy.
I am pleased with my first attempt - I have a few issues to sort out for the next one. (Will cut batting 1/2" smaller and make my seam allowance a bit bigger). I know Shyanne will love it so thats the main thing.

Oh What A Tangled Web We Weave...

Look at the state of my ribbon drawer! You will be pleased to know that I emptied and sorted this drawer last night. It was part of my forced "no computer" weekend. Yesterday morning I turned my computer on and it wouldn't go. So after a call to my computer man I rang Telecom to get them to send me a replacement modem (as my one was under 12 months old). I was dreading the call as I am not computer literate (I still sweat when it beeps at me!). I got a lovely guy called Alex (don't know what part of the world he was in) and he was so helpful. At the end of the 20 minute call I was in withdrawal mode as my replacement wouldn't be here for 3 to 5 working days!! OMG what would I do for that long without a computer. I even toyed with the idea of buying a new computer with all the gizmos that I would need - sad a. So with the realisation that I would have no computer I set to in my craft room and started tidying and sorting. Mind you to look at it you would wonder where I had been.... Today I was going to carry on sorting, etc but as you can see I am on the computer. My mail lady brought me a parcel this morning and it was my new modem!! Overnight - what fab service Telecom!! I nearly hugged her! I'm up and running and one happy camper. ***Note to self: Look at what you achieved in your craft room with no computer - carry on tidying!! Will put up an AFTER piccy when finished.

Happy crafting - thanks for looking

Mini Challenge

At Crafters Anonymous we are having a Mini Challenge. We have to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) something and make sure we say where we CASED it from. I received my Cardmaking Stamping & Papercraft magazine today and I CASED this from it. The yellow has not come out that bright but IRL it is!!!! Its a retired Stampin Up colour Summer Sun.

Have a good day - thanks for looking

Mums card

In the end I decided against the first two cards that I made and whipped this one up in 15 minutes (very fast for me). Sitting on my desk was a scrap of melon mambo cardstock. I thought "pink and black" and "whoosh" there was stuff going everywhere and voila - it was done! In my haste to get it done and a photo taken I smudged the sentiment. Don't ya just hate that!!

Have a good day - thanks for looking.

I'm on a roll...

Well sort of... This is my third card that I have made this year and I'm loving it. I'm back in my craft room and as the song goes "I feel good..." Don't you find, sometimes, that things that you have enjoyed doing suddenly become a chore.

I CASED this from the current Stampin' Up catty. I am pleased with the colours that I have used. I am becoming addicted to Very Vanilla cardstock - its reminds me of fresh cream.

Have a good day.

Hello - Is there anybody out there....?

My goodness, was it really Christmas Eve when I last posted? Wow doesn't time fly. I have been so busy that tonight is the first time that I have actually crafted for three weeks. I know that I haven't done crafting since Christmas as on my craft room floor are the Christmas wrapping paper, scissors and tape!
I am involved in an ATC Swap at Crafters Anonymous and I have to start cutting the 10 bases, and decide on my final design and then finish them by 1 February. I know that seems a long way off but the way I faff around I will be pushing myself to finish by that date!
I have made a card for my Mum's Birthday but am not too sure if it is the right style for her - its more of a Wedding/Engagement card. I will make another one and post them both tomorrow and perhaps you can help me decide. Me and my hubby are taking her to see The Topp Twins tomorrow night at a local winery and I am so looking forward to it.

See you tomorrow
